This is somewhat different from my last post on here. This is almost pure guitarishness. Aside from the bassline and drums, all the tracks are me happily spazzing out on my guitar.

I’ll continue to hone the grunge details on future tracks but this is definately my preferred style of guitar sound. It was a major effort of will to stay away from mixing it with synthesiser sounds but I wanted it dirty. Oh yes.

The Beagle Knows August 11, 2011

Puntastic! Posted this up to Soundcloud a few minutes ago. It will probably need a few tweaks after I’ve got some distance from it.

Its slightly eccentric chillout, designed as if it was a theme tune for some non-existant shabby TV Detective perhaps nicknamed The Beagle.

LIAF at the Barbican in September August 7, 2011

The London International Animation Festival is a showcase for, oddly enough, animation and between the 2nd and 3rd of September this year they’re hosting an event at the Barbican. On Sept 3rd a friend of mine is on a panel discussing aspects of animation, his particular speciality being sound design.

From the blurb: “Spread over 2 days on Friday September 2nd and Saturday September 3rd, LIAF will be hosting a free industry event held at the Barbican aimed at professional animators, those who work with animation, individuals who want to get a start and the indelibly curious. Split into 4 sessions over the 2 days and featuring a dizzy array of guest speakers from the industry.

It all takes place on Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd September at the Barbican, Silk St, London EC2Y 8DS. Entry is strictly by ticket only. Numbers are limited and issued on a first-come first served basis.”

More details at http://www.liaf.org.uk/2011/08/liafs-first-industry-event/

If you’re in London over that weekend, this is potentially a very interesting visit.

Worth checking out. Personally I favour the Eschaton stuff (no change there). Sub Atomic (Ricky Force Remix) is great.

Cute Overlord + Remixes August 3, 2011

Some more demented pop from Vlantis with remixes from Ben Steed, Jazzyspoon, Benwaa, Aaron Goodwin and Electromass, changing the mood all the way from psychadelic in Jazzyspoon’s remix to the brooding sounds of Ben Steed’s remix, with all points in between in the other remixes including a diversion into dubstep in Electromass’s remix.

Not as punky as Vlantis’s usual, this is fairly straightforward with lots of arpeggios and catchy vocals by Mio, almost like nursery rhymes in places. Worth checking out. Highlight for me was probably Ben Steed’s remix.

Look what I found in the Listening Booth at IDMf… August 2, 2011

Stumbled across this yesterday in the Listening Booth on IDMf. Not that I’ve been blogging particularly regularly for some time now but I find it odd to be getting excited about something thats not finished by someone that hadn’t previously got on my radar.

Its still a work in progress but its now on my radar as something to watch out for. Crazily catchy pice of DnB. It doesn’t even have a proper name yet. The original thread it was posted on can be found here…

See what you think. I’m looking forward to seeing this one finished 🙂

Possibly the best new track to appear on the IDM forums in the last week by Swimming Underground, is Curious Yellow. I won’t blather on about it but if you look closely, the download button is enabled (yay!) so you can hear it in even higher quality. Grab it before someone changes their mind! 😀
